Professor Martin Amogre Ayanore (PhD)

Martin Amogre Ayanore is a public health specialist with specialised trainings in health economics and health systems research. He is an Associate Professor of health Economics and Policy, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. His research interest spans health economics, community health systems and determinants, maternal and child health, and healthy ageing in LMIC. His PhD work was conducted in Maastricht University, The Netherlands in the field of the economics on sexual and reproductive health needs between 2014-2017. He is involved in two grant projects on sexual and reproductive health in Ghana. He is PI of a Grand Challenges Canada (GCC) award to explore the application of Artificial intelligence (AI) projects to enhance community-health system communication and knowledge improvements for pregnancy and newborn care in Ghana. Secondly, he is a consortium lead (PI) of a USAID funded project that is assessing family planning (FP) benefit packages performance and utilization under Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), with the aim to mapping out FP priorities towards the revision of Ghana’s cost implementation plan on FP commodities in Ghana. 

Martin has a strong track record of research publications, haven published >100 peer review papers in high impact journals across health sciences. He has held several research visits and collaborations abroad. Martin has been a visiting professor to Queen’s University, Canada; a two-time John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health fall fellow; a visiting research scientist to the Royal College of Physician of Ireland, Dublin. He is a recipient of several Travel awards as an academic to present his work in workshops and conferences around the World. 

He is a member of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine, and Hygiene (RSTMH), UK, member of WHO Health Financing Technical Network (HFTN Main Community), and collaborator to the Global Burden of Disease Network, University of Washington, USA. He is also an active member of the African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA).
