UHAS graduates the Maiden Batch of ONLEP in Africa

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in partnership with the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC), City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) and Applied Molecular Genetics Inc. (AMGEN) launched the maiden edition of Oncology Nurse Leadership Programme (ONLEP) in Africa on July 7, 2025.

 

ONLEP is a 5-year project of a 6-month fully funded postgraduate certificate programme expected to train 240 Oncology nurses across the African continent. The first cohort is made up of 30 participants selected from public and private hospitals, faith-based hospitals, universities, advocacy organizations and training colleges from 7 countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Malawi, Kenya, South Africa and Gambia.  

 

As part of the 1st session of the 10th Congregation of the University on December 4, 2024, 30 Oncology Nurse Leadership Programme (ONLEP) participants also graduated. They were awarded Postgraduate Certificate in Oncology Nurse Leadership. The overall outstanding graduating students for the first edition of the ONLEP programme were Mr. Aliyu Mustapha and Ms. Sabantini Memory. 

 

At the end of the programme, the participants expressed their appreciation to the University, partners and Amgen for granting them the opportunity to partake in the maiden edition of the Oncocoly Nurse Leadership Programme (ONLEP). Mr. Alexander Adu Kissi, an oncology nurse specialist said “ONLEP has been a game changer and the experience has been top notch. The programme is highly rated and I will recommend to my colleagues.”
